“The petition’s motto “If there is a hungry person, one must feed them,” a saying from the Jewish code of law, will be flashed on half a dozen New York City electronic billboards beginning Friday.

“This is a long-standing Jewish imperative,” said Rabbi Shawn Zevit of Mishkan Shalom, a Reconstructionist synagogue in Philadelphia referring to the admonition to feed the hungry. “It doesn’t feel like, hey, let’s create a new category or mitzvah.”

Mishkan Shalom is one of a dozen congregations that have dedicated this weekend’s Shabbat to food aid.”

Sunday 6/29/25— A full page ad is in New York Times Magazine highlighting the Jews For Food Aid For People in Gaza campaign. A message was sent by the campaign to all individuals who signed on notifying them about the ad which partially read "This campaign is one important piece of that puzzle: we know that the Jewish community unifying around this message is a powerful statement of solidarity to Palestinians in Gaza, a powerful expression of our values, and a powerful message to decision makers and elected officials to know that Jews across the globe oppose the Israeli government’s policy of forced starvation".

Ad Campaign

On June 13, 2025, the Jews for Food Aid for People in Gaza campaign made a major ad buy in New York City to gain visibility and additional signatures to its statement of support for food aid for people in Gaza. The ad campaign was on Link NYC billboards near iconic Jewish food locations in New York City: Russ and Daughters, Katz’s Deli, H&H Bagels, Zabar’s, and Fairway. These locations were chosen with the understanding that people visiting would likely support the statement and add their names.
